Designer Duet Bigert Bergstrom presented the Solar Egg project, a public installation for a sauna, as part of the urban landscape transformation project developed by the architect Riksbyggen for the city of Kiruna, Sweden. The Egg has a gilded steel shell that reflects the city and surrounding landscape.

Inspired by the arctic climate, where light and darkness change over the years, the designers used an egg shape to symbolize rebirth and new possibilities.

Golden Egg - Original Sauna Design

This modern sauna can be disassembled and moved to anywhere in the city. In the assembled state, its dimensions are 5 m in height and 4 m in width. The doors to the sauna are stylized as a reclining hatch with a golden staircase.
