This tiny modern crystal house, located in the Lanesville Forest, in New York, was designed by the architects of the BIG studio, whose main offices are based in Copenhagen and New York. The project was named A45, and is a full-fledged housing, embodying everything that a person needs to rest in solitude in the countryside.
"The design evolves from the shape of the traditional A “a house with a shape, but its gable roof is at the same time the walls of the house, this design allows us to simplify the flow of rainfall,” the architects explain. - “To maximally add convenience and space, in the A45 house the floor area was calculated to be rather wide - in the form of a square. The roof lift is arranged at 45 degrees and goes into the crown of the house to a considerable height - 3.96 m. As a result of this combination of corners and sides of the house , the crystal form is recreated, and the building itself looks different from different sides. "
The total area of this miniature house is only 17 square meters. Installation of the building box is made on site. Its modules are 100% made up of materials prepared for assembly, the kit of which includes parts for double floor, a wooden frame and wall webs. One of the walls is created entirely of glass elements, which provide an overview of the surrounding nature and give natural light to the room.
The interior of the house is decorated in the Scandinavian concept of "hygge", which includes everything necessary for the convenience of living in everyday life. "In one corner of the room formed is Morso’s wood-burning fireplace, in the other corners, on the opposite side of the hearth, the necessary furniture and a bed are located," the designers commented.
The small kitchen Københavns Møbelsnedkeri, the handmade furniture from Carl Hansen and the Kvadrat upholstered bed, designed by Soren Rose Studio, are made in Scandinavian style, were created by hand and perfectly complement the interior of the house-crystal A45.
The bathroom continues with motifs of reuniting with nature - finishing a small room made of cedar wood, and plumbing and accessories from the company VOLA complements the design.
