O Nastas

fisketaverna,
fish-tavern

jeg er spesielt glad i fiskekakene;

A lovely Ouzeri just
on the corner by the T-junction out of town, just before the gas station, same corner.
A place that many does not discover unfortunately. A place where many Greeks go.

WE had a lovely meal there,
I spesially loves the fish cakes:

οι Ψαροκεφτέδες
They do not look as tempting as the Mythos or the bread, but ...

"Eudokia"
heter sangen jeg helst vil danse,
hvis jeg har kefi!
MEN ofte tørr jeg ikke!!!

Hva betyr tittelen?
Tja?

"Eudokia"
is the name of the song that I love
to dance, - if I have kefi!
BUT often I do not dare to dance it!!!

What does the title mean?
Tja?
The spelling I just saw on the TV, I have a music program that shows the title of the song and who is singing it, often a photo of the CD cover as well, - very good, because then I can write it down so I can buy it later.

Mail fra en venninde; Mail from a friend;

"Yassou

Ευδοκία , is a female name and also means to thrive .

(Thrive - blomstre, trives, ha fremgang/hell)

Filakia"

Her er hva jeg fant om ordet;  And here is what I found about the word;

ευδοκώ fornøid med, verdige, nedlate seg, samtykke be pleased to, deign, consent
ευδοκιμώ lykkes, ha fremgang succeed, thrive, prosper
ευδόκιμος, -η, -ο vellykket highly esteemed, successful
η ευδοξία godt navn og rykte good name, good fame
εύδοξος, -η, -ο aktet, velrenomert reputable, glorious

Not quite easy to find
the correct translation of "eudokia",
but it sounds positive!

Strange, but I can hear songs, names, words,
- and never think about what it means, before it suddenly strikes me!

το κέφι lyst, humør, gemytt
- og mye mer!
cheerfulness, merriment, gaiety, liveliness
- and much more!
έχω κέφι være ved godt humør,
(uten stimulerende midler)
be at good mood
- be high because of good mood and maybe also good company, - one feels like flying and can do everything ... (without drugs)
κάνω κέφι bli opprørt
- eller kanskje litt vill
get upset
- or maybe be a bit wild

Difficult to translate the word "kefee" - you have to experience it,
and I have to admit to get "kefee" is fantastic!

Tom Stone Greek Handbook says;
(An A-Z Phrasal Guide to Almost everything
You Want to Know about Greece
(and are sometimes afraid to ask.))
Lycabettus Press 1982

I think the book is out of stock, - a lovely, funny book!

Here it comes;

"Kefee is a gift of the god and it can not be bought or forced,
if you try, he will just laugh at you and pay you back
for your presumptuousness by giving you a terrible,
guilt-ridden hangover the next morning."

More Agnondas, very quiet!
Issue No. 13360

IF GEORGE Papandreou were to accomplish just a fraction of all he promises to combat corruption, increase government efficiency and reform the state,
then Greece would transform into the best of all possible worlds
.
The PM admitted as much in his first speech to his parliamentary group on October 14, announcing that citizens say they would be delighted if the government could do half of what it plans. The PM declared war on the rousfeti (political favours), which is as central to Greek politics as feta cheese is to Greek cuisine. Papandreou’s plans to upgrade parliament and expand its powers are certainly welcome in a system in which prime ministerial absolute monarchism has been the norm, but the proof will be in the pudding.
